TABLE RUNNERS: TWO GUIDELINES TO FOLLOW Whether you plan to use table runners to insert decoration or color, table runners add a beautiful frame to each table, but here’s a quick guide to follow when purchasing your table runners. First and most importantly, the fabric you choose says everything about your theme. Pick a fabric that conveys the feeling of your wedding. Lace and silk gives an elegant feeling whereas linen or burlap fabric gives more of a beachy and relaxed mood. And second, let the complexity of your tablecloth and runner be the guide to your table decorations. To keep your table from being overwhelming, do the opposite of your linens. If you have complex designs in your linens, keep your decorations simple. And if using simple linens, use more ornate or colorful decorations to make your table pop! HOW TO ORDER YOUR TABLE CLOTHS CORRECTLY Tables come in four basic shapes: oblong, square, round, and oval. After figuring out your table shape, the most important thing to do is to measure, measure, and measure again before ordering your tablecloths! While hangover length is more of a personal preference, the standard drop is approximately 6”-10” on each side. (Add an extra 12”-20” to your measurements.) And when in doubt, err on the longer side as it’s always better to have a little too much fabric than not enough!
